Inktober 2016

A month full of illustrations

To challenge myself and improve my drawing skills, I decided last October to enter the Inktober contest. But first things first: What is this all about?

An artist named Jake Parker started doing this back in ’09 and it has really caught on. He challenged himself in doing an ink drawing every single day.  It wasn’t about being perfect, but developing a consistency which should lead to artistic improvement. It started as a personal challenge but quickly gained international attention. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.

The Rules are simple:

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

2) Post it online

3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2016

4) Repeat

I stumbled over this challenge two years ago on Instagram. Last year I decided to join the challenge.
